Florida Hospital's Heart Transplant Team is a group of dedicated healthcare professionals who are experts in the field of advanced heart failure and heart transplantation. Heart Transplant Surgeon
|
Performs the heart transplant surgery and will see you in the hospital and the clinic after your surgery to make sure you are healing properly. |

Heart Transplant Cardiologist
|
Specializes in advanced heart failure, mechanical circulatory devices, as well as pre and post cardiac transplant care. They also manage your medical care, including heart biopsies and catheterizations. |

Transplant Pulmonologist
|
Specializes in lung diseases. They will help manage your pulmonary issues if needed and may perform right heart catheterizations and other tests before or after transplantation. |

Heart Transplant Coordinators |
Are responsible for evaluation, listing and coordinating the transplant surgery, and for managing your follow up care after discharge. |

Transplant Nurse Practitioner |
Works with the transplant physicians in the hospital, coordinating and assisting with needed medical care. |

Transplant Pharmacist |
Monitors your medication and helps to educate you and your caregivers regarding the transplant medications. |

Social Worker
|
Evaluates psychosocial and emotional needs including financial, housing, medications and caregiver needs. |

Registered Dietician |
Instructs you and your family about healthy nutrition prior to and after heart transplantation. |

Financial Counselor
|
Reviews your insurance coverage and all costs associated with your transplant. It is important that you understand the costs that may not be covered by insurance. |

Physical Therapist
|
The physical therapist meets with you to evaluate your exercise capacity. They will recommend and teach you specific exercises to maintain optimal health pre and post transplant. |

Respiratory Therapist |
Teaches deep breathing exercises, use of incentive spirometer and performs chest physiotherapy after your transplant. |
|
Cardiac Rehab Specialists |
Will help design a cardiac rehab program during the pre-transplant, hospitalization and post transplant phases. |

Pastoral Care Staff |
Will help address your spiritual needs and are available 24/7. They will also consult with members of your church as requested. |

Primary Care Physician |
Works with the transplant team to continue to care for you after transplant. |
