Hepatobiliary Surgery
The hepatobiliary surgery program has grown in parallel with the growth of the liver transplant program. The same multidisciplinary approach used in liver transplantation is used to address hepatobiliary disorders. We are the only program in Central Florida that offers the full spectrum of medical and surgical expertise for hepatobiliary disorders.
Highlighting our commitment to providing the most advanced and minimally invasive techniques for our patients in 2010, we performed nine laparoscopic liver resections and one laparoscopic choledochal cyst resection and reconstruction.
Our hepatologists and surgeons work closely to determine the most appropriate therapy: from minimally invasive surgery, such as laparoscopic liver resection and radiofrequency ablation, to maximally invasion options, such as open liver resection or liver transplantation. If we determine that surgery is not appropriate, then we are able to coordinate further treatment such as chemoembolization, percutaneous ablation, stereotactic beam radiotherapy, or chemotherapy with the appropriate expert at Florida Hospital.
